Working with these girls gives me hope that with access to Resources and Educational Material, We can unleash the potentials of an African Girl Child.
The real fact is that 70% of the girls in this STEM Coding program is using computer for the first time, 98% is browsing the internet for the first time. While 99% opened an email for the first time. In just one week of having access to computer they have learned all these and have already started coding and writing codes on their own. By the end of the 3 weeks program the were use HTML to build a website from scratch. Regained Confidence in themselves about ICT, understand 21st century careers and acquired the 21st century skills.
Coding/Programming is a universal language, people who knows how to code can be able to communicate with anybody all over the world,Coders are Problem Solvers, Creative, Innovative and the have an excellent communication skills.
Early exposure to programming will helps our children and youths solve everyday problems and get prepared for a lifetime of opportunities and importantly become employable.
